A Malaysian man viewed as at fault for drug dealing was executed on Wednesday in Singapore after a last-ditch legitimate test by his mom bombed in a high-profile case that had drawn in global calls for forgiveness, his family said.
Nagaenthran Dharmalingam, 34, had been waiting for capital punishment for over 10 years for dealing 44 grams (1.5 oz) of heroin into Singapore, which has a portion of the world's hardest opiates regulations.
His sibling Navin Kumar, 22, said by phone the execution had been completed and said the memorial service would be held in the town of Ipoh in Malaysia.
